Below you'll find a bit about us and our Team Riders and Friends of Foil Drive! We believe in working with people who honestly love what we do and who want to be a part of it! You'll find all kinds of riders from Pro's to absolute beginners and we wouldn't want it any other way!
About Foil Drive
Foil Drive started out as a personal project of CEO & chief designer Paul. With an injured shoulder, he had the desire to catch more waves in the limited free time he had and from further out the back where most waves are unridden. The local crew soon got around it and all wanted one, queue Foil Drive...
Paul brings a range of experience to the table, having founded the first commercial Drone operation in Australia and over 20 years of experience designing RC aircraft, electric skateboards, scooters and mountain bikes. His passion expanded into jetboards and electric surfboards, then came foiling! The initial electric foils he created, while powerful, were just too heavy for surf. This led to the concept of a super-lightweight, retro-fit motor kit designed to provide just enough assistance to get on the foil while minimizing weight and maintaining optimal hydrodynamics and performance of any existing gear.
Our other co-founder, Ben, has known Paul for over 10 years. Having met through RC aircraft, then working together in the drone industry the boys had a common passion for outdoor sports and quickly found themselves wanting to get out foiling more & more as the sport developed.
The concept of hybrid “Foildriving” quickly spread and very soon riders from all over the world were asking how they could join in on the fun!
Team Riders
James Casey
After a cold call back before Foil Drive was born, James has been an incredible part of our Foil Drive family for some time now!
Between ripping on a Foil Drive himself and providing online and in person coaching as part of his Coach Casey. Club, James gets up to all sorts with Foil Drive in hand. A world class rider and co-founder or Code Foils, we're stoked to have James out there sharing his Foil Drive journey.
Dave West
The Foil Lord himself! Mr Dave West is a Prone and Downwind foil shredder from the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.
Personally we feel like Dave kinda burst onto the foiling scene pretty quicky with his very raw, honest and straight talking reviews, tutorials and rapidly progressing riding. His Youtube video style is very "everyday guy likes foiling and wants to help you learn and like it too" kinda vibe...
Dom Hoskyns
A name you've surely heard by now, Dominic was Foil Drive Owner #1 and has been 100% committed to Foildriving since day one! A British teacher, living in Oman, Dom soon found himself in Australia and is now based in the Netherlands heading up Foil Drive Europe!
If you want to know anything about Foiling, Dom is your guy!
Paul Cooper
Hawaiian Prone ripper, Paul has fell in love with hybrid electric assist prone foiling!
Paul loves a hard carving turn across the face of a wave and with straps we can't wait to see some Foil Drive big airs!
Will Leady
Will is an all round top guy from Florida and loves his Foil Drive! Find him pumping circles around you and sharing his froth!

Mat Mckinnon
Better known as The Sandy Foiler, Mat is based in Sandy Beach, NSW and is a passionate foil surfer. With experience riding all kinds of foils, both electric and traditional, he is always keen to share his stoke and bring you along for the ride through his socials!
Victor Harris
Victor is super active in the Foil Drive community and was one of the first to push the boundaries of small boards in flat water conditions, getting down to a 15L pump board, and now regularly riding the AXIS 899 pump foiling onto tiny 1 foot swell back home in Dubai. Mike Zed
Mike embodies everything and anything electric when it comes to foiling! With an incredible following on YouTube, Mike is well known for his reviews over on his channel JetSurfing Nation. Mike found the light weight design of Foil Drive was unmatched and, while he still loves to review anything electric, absolutely loves his Foil Drive! Jamie Wise
You might have seen some young guy absolutely ripping on his prone board, wing tips out everywhere, meet Jamie! Not only a killer foiler, Jamie works for Foil Drive building your kits and extensive testing alongside Paul. In the water and on the land he knows foiling isnide out.
Mark Skyes
Local Ledged and total frother, Sykesy is the go to guy when you want a killer session, full of stoke and some killer riding! If an endless battery and anti-fatigue body existed, we don't think Mark would ever come out of the water!
While you won't see much of Mark online he does feature in a lot of our content, just look for the biggest simle on the water.
Scott McCluskey
Another Foil Drive local, find Scotty in the surf, downwinding or testing out the latest gear! A great competitor, Scotty is often out and about Aussie events and is a super talented foiler.
Nick O'Bea
Find him in fluro, riding Axis and hanging out with the crew at Fin & Foil in Florida! Nick chases the wind and waves and when he's not out foiling himself, he's out teaching others with Foil Drive!
Andrea Di Paola
You may have seen some fresh Foil Drive content getting around in Italian, this is the man himself, otherwise known as Infoilencer on Instagram.
Jeremy Wilmotte
Jez has been part of the FD fam for a while now, testing everything we throw at him and introducing the idea of family foiling. Having taught most of the fam to foil with Foil Drive now, we're stoked to be making these memories with Jez!
David Fox
David is another original Foildriver from San Francisco who has seen every upgrade to Foil Drive since day one! From the Assist, to the Assist PLUS, David joined us at AWSI and is stoked on Gen2 Foil Drive!
David DeVeris
David has been a Foil Drive customer for some time now! Originally based in the Philippines, David is now in the US and has one goal, to get as many people exposed, and keen on foiling as possible! Joining us this year at AWSI, David is a great Foil Drive advocate who anyone would be lucky to run into at the beach!
Devon Manz
The original Wake Thief, Devon, has offered great insight into the world of Wake Thieving and how Foil Drive could be used in this scene! We're stoked to get Gen2 to Devon to see what he can get up to!
